Plans for our conference and journal are coalescing!
The 2016 Undergraduate Conference on the Classical World will take place on March 11th, 2016. We will be publishing Vol II of our journal Plebeian, featuring proceedings from the conference, will be published shortly after.
Call for Papers
Any student registered in the Faculty of Arts and Science in the 2015-2016 academic year is eligible to submit a paper; the paper, however, may have been written before this current term.
The paper must have a maximum word count of 5,000 and be related in some way to the Classical world. We strongly encourage you to consider submitting papers that received A-range grades in 300- and 400-level courses and independent studies, although any and all papers we receive will be considered.
Papers can be sent to us by email, at classu.plebeian@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is January 15th, 2016. Once the deadline has passed, we will select up to eight papers for presentation at the conference and publication in Plebeian. Authors will be notified within a week.
Submitters must be available throughout the spring term for edits, and must be available on March 11th, 2016.
Call for Editors
We are also looking for experienced writers to join our editorial board. The majority of the board’s work will be throughout January and February, and will involve review and editing accepted papers for presentation and publication. Those submitting papers may also apply to be editors. Those desiring to apply should email us their 1) name, 2) year of study, 3) student number, 4) experience in the field of Classics (e.g. a course listing), and 5) a writing sample of past work, roughly 2,000 words. The deadline for applying to the editorial board is December 4th, 2015. Applicants will be notified within a week of the deadline.
