Dear students,

The Department Classics invites you to participate in the Backpack to Briefcase (b2B) program. Attend various b2B events such as career skills workshops, speed networking events, dinners with alumni, industry networking receptions, and the U of T Next Steps Conference.

Networking Made Easy at b2B
Attend this workshop to learn the skills needed to make quality connections as you expand your personal and professional networks. Prepare and practice for b2B networking events in this interactive seminar. Learn how to start a conversation and make a good impression.

Monday, September 19 (4-6pm)
Tuesday, September 20 (3-5pm)
Wednesday, September 21 (12-2pm)

Register for these b2B workshops at http://alumni.artsci.utoronto.ca/b2b-networking-made-easy/.

Speed Networking – Humanities
Alumni from various humanities departments will be on campus on Thursday September 29th (6-8pm) to discuss their U of T education, the value of their degree, and their pursuit of successful careers. Over a series of 10-minute conversations with each group of alumni, you can broaden your connections and increase your exposure to career options. Bring your questions as there will be lots of time to speak with the alumni during the speed-networking session and after, when food and refreshments will be served!

Industry Night: Careers in Law / Careers in Arts & Culture
Thinking about a career in law? Thinking about a career in arts/culture? Curious as to how to plan your path forward and connect your current studies with a job after graduation? Join us on Thursday November 24th (6:30-8pm) when alumni and students will mix and mingle for a very special b2B. This networking reception will be a great opportunity to make connections and speak with multiple alumni who graduated from the Faculty of Arts & Science and have gone on to pursue a career in law or arts/culture, as well as with fellow U of T students who are also considering this path.

Register for these b2B networking events at http://alumni.artsci.utoronto.ca/b2b-registration-fall-2016/.

NOTE: Full participation in the b2B program can be included on your Co-Curricular Record (CCR). At a minimum, full participation includes: attendance at one b2B Career Centre workshop, one student-alumni b2B networking event, and completion of a related b2B reflection activity. Your CCR is an official U of T document that lists approved activities/experiences that you’ve participated in outside the classroom.

We look forward to seeing you at upcoming b2B events – always feel free to get in touch if you have questions about the program!

Sincerely,

Giselle Arsenault
