Plebeian Editorial Board Applications Open!

Extra, extra, read all about it! Plebeian Editorial Board applications are now open! Thank you for showing interest in joining the Plebeian Editorial Board! The application process has two steps—submission of your completed Application and, for those applications selected, an Interview. The Application includes:

  • The appropriate Application Form
  • A writing sample of 1500-2500 words

Here is a summary of the responsibilities. For full information, please see the Plebeian webpage, and particularly the Plebeian Organizational Charter. Note that peak refers to the selection and editing rounds in January through March, where submitters and editors each get one week to make revisions or suggestions and return the document to the other. There are two types of Editor we are hiring, with eight positions in total:

Deputy Editor (1 Position, 2-3 hours/week at peak)
Application Deadline: Thu. 6 October 2016
Responsibilities:

  • Serving as the second-in-command, backup Chief
  • Advise on design, deadlines, and meetings
  • Hiring Associate Editors, and assisting with replacements
  • Reading and ranking of all paper submissions
  • Giving input on editorial decisions presented to the Editing Team
  • Editing two papers with a partnered Editing Team member
  • Observing deadlines for returning drafts to Submitters
  • Meeting with the authors of the two assigned papers at least once

Associate Editors (7 Positions, 1-2 hours/week at peak)
Application Deadline: Thu. 17 November 2016
Responsibilities:

  • Reading and ranking of all paper submissions
  • Giving input on editorial decisions presented to the Editing Team
  • Editing two papers with a partnered Editing Team member
  • Observing deadlines for returning drafts to Submitters
  • Meeting with the authors of the two assigned papers at least once
