Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at the Clubs Fair on Wednesday. Here’s a quick recap of what’s going on right now with CLASSU:
We will be holding a first year orientation meeting at the Heavy Metal Northrop Frye statue outside Northrop Frye Hall at Victoria College on Friday, 9 September at 10:30 a.m. This gives any first years, or other students new to CLASSU, an opportunity to meet the Senate, get a tour of the buildings that the Department of Classics uses, and ask questions about UofT more generally. We will also show everyone the Lillian Massey Building, home to the Department of Classics and our very own CLASSU lounge, and have a chance to meet Professor Keith, the Chair, and Professor Lytle, the Undergraduate Co-ordinator.
If you want to sign up to be a mentor or mentee (and haven’t yet!), please sign up via our Peer Mentorship Programme form. This programme aims to connect more experienced U of T students with their recently arrived colleagues. There will be several informal meetings and an exchange of contact information so that there can be a person to guide and give support as well as a chance to make new connections. There will be free snacks and/or lunches for all participants at the CLASSU-organized meet-ups. We will try and pair you with someone of similar interests. This will probably get off the ground by the third week of classes, once announcements in classes have been made.
CLASSU is having its Fall General Election on 22 September 2016 in LI 009 at 5:30p.m. There are seven positions available. Nominations forms will be available in hard copy at the Street Festival on Tuesday, 13 September, and in the lounge starting Monday 12 September. They are also available on the elections page.
Once the elections have taken place, the full Senate will be announcing plans for all the usual events we run. Until then, stay tuned, like us on Facebook for news and memes, and join the CLASSU Events group to be automatically invited to all of our events.
